Maria Gallucci and the Business of Making Real Estate Accessible

Maria Gallucci is an American real estate broker, author, and housing accessibility advocate based in Colorado. Over a career spanning more than three decades, she has become widely known for advancing inclusive communication practices in real estate and for her work promoting equitable access to housing for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals, LGBTQ+ clients, and other underserved communities. Her professional success, combined with a deeply personal understanding of accessibility, has positioned her as a respected leader in both real estate and advocacy. Gallucci was raised in Colorado by Deaf parents, with American Sign Language serving as her first language. She grew up as one of six siblings, all of whom are hearing, and from an early age learned how to navigate the space between Deaf and hearing communities. By the age of five, she was interpreting medical conversations and school interactions for her family. At just 12 years old, she assisted her parents in purchasing their first home by acting as an unofficial interpreter. These experiences shaped her understanding of how systems often fail to accommodate people who communicate differently, especially during complex and high-stakes situations. Her early exposure to communication barriers had a lasting impact. Gallucci has frequently cited these formative years as central to her professional philosophy. Witnessing firsthand how access to information affects autonomy and decision-making led her to focus on building systems that prioritize clarity, respect, and independence. These values would later become the foundation of her work in real estate. Gallucci began working in real estate in the early 1990s and developed extensive experience across residential sales, new construction, investment properties, and builder representation. Her work has been primarily rooted in Colorado, including the Denver metropolitan area, Colorado Springs, Northern and Southern Colorado, and the Western Slope. She has also been involved in national real estate markets, allowing her to bring a broad perspective to her practice. Throughout her career, she has remained focused on aligning professional excellence with client-centered service. She is the founder of Gallucci Homes and of ASL Realty, a national platform that connects Deaf and Hard of Hearing clients with real estate professionals fluent in American Sign Language. ASL Realty was established to address the communication barriers that often arise in real estate transactions and to offer a more direct and culturally competent service model. By reducing reliance on intermediaries and improving access to information, the platform allows clients to participate fully and independently in housing decisions. In addition to ASL Realty, Gallucci founded Uptown Realty Group and the ASL at Compass Affinity Group. These initiatives were designed to strengthen professional support systems for ASL fluent agents and to foster a sense of community within the industry. Her leadership has contributed to broader conversations about inclusion and accessibility within real estate, emphasizing that communication equity is essential to ethical and effective service. Gallucci is a top-producing agent at Compass Real Estate and ranks among the top 1.5 percent of real estate agents nationally. Her achievements reflect not only high production but also consistent recognition for client service and professional leadership. She has received numerous awards, including Top 1 percent of Colorado REALTORS, Real Producers Top 1 percent REALTOR, the 5280 Magazine Double Black Diamond Award, Real Trends Top 100 Agent, Best Real Estate Agent in America honors from both Real Trends and Tom Ferry, Outstanding Women in Business recognition, the Five Star Real Estate Agent designation, and multiple awards from the Denver Metro REALTOR Association and South Metro REALTOR Association. Beyond her professional work, Gallucci is deeply engaged in advocacy and community service. She currently serves on the boards of Rocky Mountain Deaf School, DOVE, which focuses on Deaf Overcoming Violence through Empowerment, and the Colorado Association of the Deaf. Her advocacy centers on reducing systemic communication barriers and improving access to housing and support services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals, survivors of violence, and members of the LGBTQ community. She integrates principles of social entrepreneurship, sustainability, and community empowerment into her work, blending purpose with measurable impact. Gallucci is also the bestselling author of Raised in Silence, published on September 11, 2025, by Peaceful Profits. The memoir explores her experience growing up as a hearing child of Deaf parents and examines themes of communication, identity, responsibility, and belonging. While rooted in Deaf culture, the book speaks to a broad audience and addresses universal challenges related to leadership, empathy, and human connection. It also offers practical insights on respectful communication and inclusive design, encouraging readers to apply empathy in both personal and professional settings. Today, Gallucci continues to live and work in Colorado, where her career remains guided by the lessons of her early life. Her work reflects a consistent commitment to inclusion, communication equity, and housing access. Through her leadership, advocacy, and professional practice, Maria Gallucci has helped redefine what accessible real estate can look like, proving that when systems are designed to include everyone, outcomes improve for all.
