How Patrick Austin Is Shaping the Future of Commercial Roofing and Waterproofing

In the Canadian and North American commercial roofing industry, Patrick Austin has become a recognized figure for combining hands-on expertise with strategic growth. As President and Chief Executive Officer of Austin Roofing & Waterproofing in Canada and Austin Roofing America in the United States, he has guided the expansion of a regional business into an international enterprise, executing some of the most complex projects across multiple sectors of the construction industry.
Raised in Windsor, Ontario, Austin developed a passion for athletics early in life. Soccer, in particular, played a central role in shaping his competitive mindset, as he competed against the best of the best, including the Ontario FC Nationals. These experiences instilled a high level of discipline, persistence, and teamwork, which would later influence his approach to leadership and business development.
His academic path included St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Secondary School and a diploma in Business and Marketing from St. Clair College. This educational foundation equipped him with knowledge in operations, management, and strategic planning, preparing him to navigate both entrepreneurship and executive leadership with confidence.
Entrepreneurship was part of Austin’s journey from a young age. While still in high school, he founded Pat’s Lawncare & Maintenance, providing services to residential and commercial clients throughout the Windsor region. The business expanded to handle government properties and automotive facilities such as tool and mold plants, giving him practical experience in operations, workforce management, and client relations. Successfully building and later exiting his first company gave him insight into business growth and strategic scaling.
Austin began working at Austin Roofing & Waterproofing in 2013 as a laborer, gaining firsthand experience in installation practices, safety standards, and project execution. This hands-on exposure allowed him to fully understand the company’s operations, laying the groundwork for his progression into leadership roles. By 2016, he became Vice President, contributing to workforce development, operational efficiency, and strategic planning. He was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in late 2024.
During his tenure as CEO, Austin has led the company into large-scale commercial, industrial, and agricultural projects. He managed the construction of the Parks and Recreation Facility for the Township of Plympton-Wyoming in 2022, and later oversaw multiple roofing projects for a large-scale private equity firm in Ontario. In 2023, he directed the roof restoration of the World Fuel and Sky Service facilities at Ottawa International Airport. Subsequent projects included a five-year multi-phase roofing project for Canada Brick, including a heritage building restoration in Markham, Ontario. In 2026, he was chosen as a preferred roofing contractor for Green For Life Environmental, providing ongoing service and maintenance across industrial facilities throughout Ontario.
Austin Roofing & Waterproofing has built a reputation for delivering high-quality flat roof restorations, fluid-applied waterproofing systems, and single-ply membrane installations. With over forty years of operational history, the company serves Fortune 500 firms as well as privately owned businesses, and Austin is actively expanding operations into new Canadian markets, including Calgary.
Expanding beyond Canada, Austin founded Austin Roofing America in 2024. This expansion enabled international services for its Canadian clientele seeking the same service and executional expertise while maintaining rigorous standards, leading to further developments across the United States. As President and CEO, Austin oversees cross-border operations and aligns strategic objectives across both countries.
Innovation has become a key part of Austin’s work. In 2025, he received a patent for construction tool technology, valued independently at approximately $43.7 million. He continues to create tools and solutions designed to improve efficiency, performance, and safety within the roofing industry, demonstrating his commitment to technological advancement in practical applications.
Based in Toronto, Ontario, Austin remains actively involved in both Canadian and U.S. operations. He also contributes to community initiatives, supporting youth sports programs, hospitals, and mentorship opportunities for aspiring tradespeople and athletes. His philanthropic efforts reflect a focus on empowering future leaders while giving back to the communities that shaped his career.
Patrick Austin’s journey highlights the impact of combining practical expertise, innovative thinking, and disciplined leadership. By consistently prioritizing quality, safety, and growth, he has established a company capable of handling some of the most complex roofing projects in North America while fostering opportunity, mentorship, and advancement within the communities and industries he serves.
