Olga Ozerskaya: Constructing Identity Through Layers of Image and Thought
OLG

Olga Ozerskaya is an Israeli Russian multidisciplinary visual artist whose work reflects a powerful combination of technical precision and philosophical inquiry. Known professionally as Iva, she is widely recognized for her abstract blue toned paintings and analog digital collages that explore themes such as memory, identity, ecology, and the subconscious. Her art carries a unique signature that is both emotionally resonant and intellectually rich, drawing on her background in fine arts, interior design, and philosophy. Over the years, she has evolved from a classically trained painter and design entrepreneur into a globally exhibited contemporary artist whose works appear in prestigious galleries, museums, and international art fairs.

Born in Moscow on January 9, 1984, Olga Ozerskaya began her artistic journey at an early age. In 1990, she enrolled in the Tretyakov Gallery Art School where she studied classical fine arts until 1998. This early training grounded her in the fundamentals of composition and visual storytelling. Even during her student years, she actively participated in local art contests and developed a personal visual language that hinted at the conceptual depth she would later become known for. Her curiosity and passion for exploring different forms of art were evident from the start, and her education laid the groundwork for her multidisciplinary career.

In 1998, Ozerskaya moved to the United Kingdom and continued her education at King William’s College. There, she was exposed to European contemporary art and began to broaden her artistic references and visual sensibilities. Between 2001 and 2006, she pursued a degree in Economics with a specialization in marketing at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics. Although the subject matter was different from her artistic interests, this academic path helped her build a strong foundation in understanding markets, branding, and professional presentation, all of which would later support her success in both design and art.

Her intellectual journey continued between 2006 and 2009 when she studied at Moscow State University, earning a dual degree in Art Business and Aesthetics. During this time she worked as a studio assistant to Russian abstractionist Sergey Bruhanov and gained valuable hands-on experience in a professional studio environment. She also participated in student exhibitions, including a significant group show at Mars Gallery in 2009. These experiences helped her refine her vision and approach, merging practical knowledge with deeper philosophical perspectives.

In 2008, while still pursuing her academic and artistic development, Ozerskaya founded Omdesign, a luxury interior design studio that brought her aesthetic vision into the realm of architectural and spatial design. The studio specialized in creating refined interiors where fine art and design coexisted seamlessly. Over the next twelve years, Omdesign completed more than twenty high end projects in cities such as New York, Miami, London, Munich, and Moscow. Through this work, she learned how to shape physical environments with artistic precision, reinforcing her understanding of how visual elements affect emotion and identity.

By 2015, Ozerskaya turned her focus more fully toward personal artistic development. She enrolled in a mixed media collage course at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. Her final project, a three dimensional collage collection, received first place recognition in the school’s final exhibition. This achievement marked a turning point in her creative practice. She began to experiment more with the fusion of analog and digital methods, building complex compositions that combined printed illustrations, hand cut elements, and digital editing. The resulting artworks became her signature style, rich with symbolism, layered textures, and hidden narrative structures.

Her Blood Moon series stands out as one of her most significant artistic achievements. These works explore lunar eclipses as metaphors for transformation and self-discovery. Each collage in the series uses symbolic imagery and layered elements to reflect inner change, psychological cycles, and emotional awakening. In 2020, she published an art book dedicated to the Blood Moon series, featuring nineteen collage works and personal commentary. In the book, she shares that only by looking deep into your own subconscious will you be able to unlock the secret hidden in each collage. This quote encapsulates her approach to visual art as a form of inner inquiry and symbolic communication.

Ozerskaya’s works have been exhibited internationally in solo and group exhibitions across major art hubs such as New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and Moscow. She has participated in art fairs including Palm Beach Modern and Contemporary in 2019, 2023, and 2025, Context Art Miami in 2019, 2021, and 2022, Volta Art Fair in New York in 2022, and the Olympia Art and Antiques Fair in London in 2019. Her art has also been shown at the Guild Hall Museum in East Hampton in 2020 and 2021, and at curated shows such as The 10th Muse at Case Gallery in Los Angeles, Integral at Lichtundfire Gallery in New York, and Please Remove Your Ego in Miami. Other notable exhibitions include Rebirth, a solo show held in Miami, and group exhibitions like Women and Manhattan in Black and White at Visioner Gallery in New York.

Her exploration of new formats includes digital and NFT based art presentations. She has participated in events such as CADAF Crypto and Digital Art Fair in Paris and Manhattan, Re Merge curated by HLK Art Group in New York, and the Cosmoscow Art Fair in Moscow in a special NFT section titled Between Two Worlds. These efforts demonstrate her adaptability and willingness to engage with evolving platforms while maintaining the depth and symbolism that define her style.

She is currently represented by Visioner.art Gallery in New York, Elga Wimmer Gallery in New York, Denis Leon Gallery in Boca Raton, and VK Gallery in Amsterdam. Her work continues to receive critical praise for its layered complexity and philosophical undertones. Critics and collectors often comment on how her pieces invite introspection and provide emotional depth without relying on obvious narratives.

Olga Ozerskaya’s artistic practice is shaped by her philosophical background and her belief in ecological consciousness. She describes art as a ritual and a quiet revolution of form and meaning. Her personal statement ecology is my religion reflects both the content and method of her work. She often uses sustainable materials and themes related to nature and interconnectivity, making her art not only expressive but also aligned with environmental values. Her mixed media pieces construct psychological and spatial landscapes that encourage viewers to reflect on personal and collective transformation.

Her career illustrates how identity can be constructed not only through personal history but also through visual composition. Each of her artworks is a layer of thought, a piece of memory, and a symbol of something deeper than what appears at first glance. Whether through her collage techniques, symbolic use of color, or her philosophical reflections, she continues to build a body of work that connects the personal with the universal. Olga Ozerskaya’s journey from design to fine art reveals a thoughtful and committed practice where image becomes a language and thought becomes form. Through her art she invites others to explore their own inner worlds and to see identity as something that is both created and discovered.
